Rounds 22, 23, 24

FINAL RESULTS AFTER ROUNDS 22, 23 AND 24.

Marking off the final three rounds proved very interesting with some of the lowest scores for the year showing that it was very difficult to select winners at the pointy end of the season. All of the leaders on our ladders were getting scores of 4, 5 or 6 each week like most of us so there was very little change at the top.

Don Doig #2 finished on top with a fantastic score of 144 and for his effort, Don collects the $300-00 first prize money. Interestingly, Don puts in two entries each year and this year he beat his “other” selections (Don Doig #1) by a whopping 35 games. He also held onto the lead from about round 8 which is very unusual. Great tipping Don and well
done.

Don was 4 games clear from second where we had a tie on 140 between Gail Harper and Mark Rule. Gail and Mark share the combined 2nd and 3rd prize money and collect $175-00 each. Gail picked 9/9 four times during the season to be our top lady tipster. Well done to both Gail and Mark.

Just one game behind Gail and Mark finishing just out of the money was Mike Concannon who managed to pick 9/9 twice.

We started Round 22 with $120-00 in the jackpot and for the final three rounds, NO ONE picked the 9/9. Two ladies tried very hard picking 8/9, just falling 1 game short. These two ladies are Shirley Christie and Lena Wilkinson. Well done Shirley and Lena. This means that at the end of the season, we had $200-00 unclaimed in the jackpot, so $100-00 goes to the Tennis Club and $100-00 to the person at the bottom of the ladder. For this, Stella Squiers collects $100-00.

We would like to thank everyone for supporting this competition and we trust you have enjoyed the weekly notice and details of how you all went. $580-00 was raised for the club and just over $1600-00 will be paid out to those who won some money during the season. This season 27 people were successful and will collect money so well done to everyone.

Also thanks to Steve Doig for getting all this information onto the club website for us.

Hopefully, you will all join us again next year. Please ask your family and friends to join in too, making your own little group competition. The more in this the better.

Bye for now,

CHRIS AND NOLA WILSON

Thank you Chris & Nola for another excellent, interesting & fun competition.

Round 21

ROUND 21 Gave us some good tipping and some close matches. Even though both WA teams lost, their combined losing margin was a total of 4 points. What a shame they could not both have had a win. Hawthorn defeating Collingwood was a major problem in the tipping this weekend.

No one selected the perfect score, but we did have two people with 8/9 – great tipping to Greg Harper and Mark Rule. Next week the jackpot goes to $120-00.

The ladder is proving very exciting with just three rounds (27 games) to go. Don Doig is still our leader and is now on 128, followed by Gail Harper on 126, Mark Rule on 124 and Mike Concannon and Mike Eames both on 123. There is also another group in the lower 120’s so anything can happen.

With three weeks to go THERE WILL BE NO RESULTS POSTED NOW UNTIL AFTER THE LAST ROUND. You are aware of who YOU have selected but do not know how others have gone. You won’t even know if the jackpot has been won,
or IF you picked 9/9, how much YOU have won.

With the jackpot, we have a total of $200-00 available over the next three weeks. Remember, that if there is any money unclaimed at the end of Round 24, half will go to the Tennis Club and the other half to the person with the lowest score. At the moment we have Stella Squiers on 78 and Danika Squiers on 86, waiting for this end jackpot result.

Good luck everyone, and we will get back to you in three weeks’ time.

Round 20

ROUND 20 –  For the first time since Round 4, 2022, both WA teams had a win – hooray, BUT did it help with the tipping – NO.

In fact, the round proved full of upsets and the best tipping result for this round was 6/9, and only three people managed to do that. We do say “Well Done” for this to Fran Chamberlain, Mike Eames and Danika Squiers.

Not much of a change on the leaders ladder with most scoring 4/9. Don Doig remains our leader and is now on 121, followed by Mike Concannon and Gail Harper on 119, Mike Eames and Mark Rule on 116 followed by Tim & Rodg on 115.

With just 4 rounds to go, it looks likely that our winners could come from this group, but then we still have 36 games to select winners and if it is anything like this weekend – any team can win and cause another upset.

With no winner this week, we have $80-00 sitting there for anyone clever enough to take it, so good luck to the teams you have selected.

CHRIS & NOLA WILSON

Round 19

ROUND 19 gave us some close results with three games being decided by less than a goal, also giving us some good results this week. We had one person with the perfect score this week – our “International” tipster, Roger Hooper in the UK and for his efforts, Roger collects $A40-00. We had another nine people score 8/9 with most of them missing the Fremantle/Sydney game.

Don Doig remains our leader as is now on 117. Great consistent tipping Don. Don is followed by Mike Concannon and Gail Harper both on 115, Mark Rule on 113, Lena Wilkinson on 111 and on 110 are “ANZACS”,  Mike Eames, and Tim & Rodg.

With Roger collecting the Jackpot this week we have another $40-00 for the taking in Round 20, so good luck folks.

CHRIS & NOLA WILSON

Round 18

ROUND 18 gave us some of the best tipping from most people with lots of people scoring 6, 7 or 8. When you look at the first two games that had a 1 pt and a 2 pt winning margin, so the results could have gone either way, some good results came to the fore. We did have one person get the perfect score of 9/9, and this week we say well done to Mike Eames. Mike collects $40-00 for his efforts.

The leaders’ board is also looking interesting, with all the leaders again tipping well. Two of the three top from last week scored 8/9 with the third scoring 7/9.

Don Doig remains our leader and is now on 110, followed by Mike Concannon on 109, Gail Harper on 108, Mark Rule on 106 and Lena Wilkinson on 104. This group is followed by another four people all on 102 so the final few weeks will be very interesting.

Once again we have another $40-00 up for the taking next weekend so good luck.

CHRIS AND NOLA WILSON

Round 17

ROUND 17 had some good tipping with quite a few scoring 8/9 (most missing the result of the Fremantle/Carlton game) and lots scoring 7/9. We did have a winner this week – Gail Harper scored 9/9 making it the fourth time she has picked the perfect round this year. Well done Gail. For her effort, Gail collects our jackpot of $80-40.

The top of the leader’s board has changed a little this week. Don Doig leads by himself on 102, followed by Mike Concannon and Gail Harper both on 101, and then we have Mark Rule on 99 and Lena Wilkinson on 98.

Next week we have another $40-00 to be won so good luck, everyone.

CHRIS & NOLA WILSON

Round 16

ROUND 16 gave us another tied game, so we only had to pick 8 winners. The hardest one to pick finished up as the game between Melbourne and GWS in Alice Springs. With the huge amount of rain poured through Central Australia this week, the oval was a real mess (for both teams) but with Melbourne being a running team and kicking 5 goals 15 points and losing by just 2 points, most of our tipsters missed this as nearly everyone selected Melbourne.

No one selected 9/9, but Ted Bulluss did score 8/9 – missing the Melbourne game. Well done Ted.

As a result of this week’s games we now have two people at the top of the leader’s board. On a great score of 96, we have Mike Concannon and Don Doig. Good consistent tipping by you both. They have broken away a little with the next best score being 92 by Gail Harper, Mark Rule and Lena Wilkinson. They themselves have also broken away from the rest of the pack with the next highest being in the high 80s, BUT there are still another 72 games to go so look out!

With no winner this week, our jackpot goes up to $80-40 for next week. At this stage, we have 24 people who will receive cash at the end of the season, so let’s add more names to this list over the coming 8 rounds.

GOOD LUCK

CHRIS & NOLA WILSON

Round 15

ROUND 15, What a round that was with the biggest number of winning tipsters we have ever had over the years. In fact, we had 18 people select 6/6 this week. Usually, we phone all the winners every week to give them the good news, but with 18, I apologise for not phoning – I just didn’t have that much time – instead here is your name in print.

Our best tipsters for this week are ANZACS, Mary Carr, Mark Chamberlain, Shannon Clark, Rusty Coleman, Mike Concannon, Don Doig, Helen Doig, Gail Harper, Greg Harper, Colin Matthews, Mike O’Rafferty, Mark Rule, Kylie Squiers, Steve Taylor, “Tim & Rodg” Lena Wilkinson and Natasha Wilson with all collecting $2-20 each. (we have a 40 cents carry over)

With our top four tipsters on our ladder ALL getting 6/6 the leadership board has not changed. Mike Concannon is on 90, followed by Don Doig on 89, and Mark Rule and Lena Wilkinson both on 86.

With a carryover of 40 cents, next week we revert to 9 games and our jackpot is $40-40.

Good Tipping everyone.

CHRIS & NOLA WILSON

Round 14

ROUND 14 proved that with just 6 games to select, it’s a little easier. This week we had 5 people with the perfect score, and all ladies showing how it is done. With the jackpot at $80-00 the following ladies have all collected $16-00 each. Well done to Della Chamberlain, Shirley Christie, Helen Doig, Betty Hanley and Lois Reid.

We have a change of leader at the top of our tipping ladder this week. Mike Concannon is our new leader on a score of 84. Great tipping Mike. Mike is followed by Don Doig on 83, then Mark Rule and Lena Wilkinson both on 80.

Next week is the last of the “Bye” rounds again with just 6 games to select and is worth $40-00, then Round 16 we convert back to rounds of 9 games once more so we can see exactly “who’s where” on the AFL ladder as we get closer to the end of the season.

Good Luck to everyone

CHRIS & NOLA WILSON

Round 13

ROUND 13 gave us just 8 games to select winners which should have been easier than selecting 9 winners but this round proved to be one the hardest rounds over the last few years. The average this round was just 3/8 and even our leaders found it hard with none of them getting more than 3 correct. We did however have one person select 6 winners and here we say great tipping to Stella Squiers. Two people selected 5, but most of us select 3, 2, or even 1 this week.

Even with the low correct tips, Don Doig remains our leader and is now on 80, followed by Mike Concannon on 79, then on 75 we have Gail Harper, Mark Rule and Lena Wilkinson.

With no winner this week, we have $80-00 up for grabs next week where we only have 6 games to select correctly. We can only improve. The following week is ALSO only 6 games and is the last of our “BYE” rounds, then it’s back to normal in Round 16 as we head towards September.

Good Luck.
