Final Rounds

THE FINAL DETAILS OF OUR TIPPING COMPETITION FOR 2025.

As in previous weeks, it was difficult to select winners for the last three rounds. In rounds 23 and 24, we had no winners of the jackpot, so for the last round, this was worth $280.00. Obviously, everyone was keeping their best to last as we had 14 people score 8/9 – well done. Finally, we had a winner for the jackpot; in fact, we had six people achieve this, and between them they shared the $280 00 collecting $46-65 each. These very clever people were ANZACS, Shannon Clark, Helen Doig, Mike O’Rafferty, Michael Spadanuda and Natasha Wilson. Well done to you all.

The result of the Wednesday night game between Gold Coast and Essendon has been added to your results of Round 1.

After all results have been recorded, our winner this year is Fran Chamberlain on a fantastic score of 149. For finishing first, Fran receives $300.00, and after adding this to her Round 18 9/9 win, Fran collects a total of $420.00. Well done, Fran, and the fact that she was six games clear of 2nd is quite an achievement.

We have a tie for second on 143 between Steve Doig and Michael O’Rafferty. For this, they shared the second and third prize money, winning $175.00 each. Well done, guys. Just one game further back on 142 and just out of the prize money is Shirley Christie.

Eleven people collected money this year, and we will pay out $1609-90 and have raised $390-10 for the tennis club. The odd amount is due to sharing $280.00 between 6 people.

On behalf of the tennis club, thank you for being part of this competition. We hope you have enjoyed it, and we hope you will join us again next year and ask any family and friends to be part of this unusual footy tipping. It is a lot easier not having to remember each week to do you tipping especially if away on holidays.

Many thanks

CHRIS AND NOLA WILSON

Thank you, Chris & Nola, for another fun-filled footy tipping season.

Round 21

ROUND 21 once again gave us some big wins, with four games resulting in winning margins over 50 points. This week, all home teams won, except Collingwood who were defeated by Brisbane at the MCG, so if you weren’t sure who to select and went for the home team, you could have done very well.

No one selected all the winners, but 5 people scored 8/9. This week, we congratulate Shirley Christie (8/9 for the last two weeks in a row), Keith Holland, Mike O’Rafferty (8/9 for 3 of the last 4 weeks), Mark Rule, and Lena Wilkinson. Good tipping, folks!

Fran Chamberlain remains our leader and is now on a score of 132. Unbelievable tipping, Fran, well done. Shirley Christie is nudging closer and is now on 125, followed by Steve Doig on 123, Mike O’Rafferty on 122, Mike Concannon on 121 and on 120 we have Greg Harper, Steve Taylor and Lena Wilkinson.

With no winner again this week, our jackpot for Round 22 increases to $200.00, with a total of $280.00 still up for the taking for getting 9/9 in the final few rounds. Will this be won, and if so, by how many?

Remember that if there is any money left in the jackpot kitty at the end of the season, half goes to the Tennis Club and half to the person at the bottom of our ladder. At the moment, Faye Scorer is looking good on 89, six games clear of Stella Squiers on 95.

That’s it for now, folks, as we will not be sending out the results for the next two weeks, not until after the final round in three weeks, keeping in mind that one game STILL has to be played from Round 1 when the cyclone was set to hit Brisbane and one game was postponed. This extra game could be a big decider for the prize money.

See you in three weeks’ time with all our final details of our winners. Good Luck to everyone, and I hope your footy teams have a good final three weeks.

Cheers
CHRIS AND NOLA WILSON

Round 20

ROUND 20 and what a mess up of results, with 7 teams winning by a margin of OVER 7 GOALS, one team winning by over 100 points, and two teams by over 90 points. One team was in front by 46 points at three-quarter time, had a “brain freeze” and lost by two goals.

The 9/9 was not selected again this week, but three people scored 8/9, well done. We congratulate Shirley Christie, Kylie Squiers and Steve Taylor for getting 8/9.

Fran Chamberlain remains our leader and is now on a score of 125!!!

Closing in a little after this week, we have Shirley Christie on 117, Steve Doig on 116, Mike Concannon on 115, and on 114 are Greg Harper and Mike O’Rafferty. With just four weeks to go, it is starting to get a little closer and with no winner this week, our jackpot for next week is $160.00, so good luck.

We will send out the results as usual after next week, but that will be it until AFTER the final round. This way, no one will know how the ladder is going, or if the jackpot has gone off. You will know your own details, but what has everyone else done? If you got 9/9, did you share it or win it by yourself? If the jackpot is not won on the last game, half of whatever is in the jackpot goes to the Tennis Club, and the other half goes to the person at the bottom of the ladder. At this stage, we have a close competition here, with Faye Scorer on 86, followed closely by Stella Squiers on 89. With a further four rounds to go, if unclaimed, the jackpot COULD BE $280.00 with one of our ladies winning $140.00. If, however, the 9/9 is selected on the last round, they will get nothing. WHO KNOWS!

Talk again next week.

Cheers

CHRIS AND NOLA WILSON

Round 19

ROUND 19 gave us some great games and at the same time some big wins. Only three games were decided by less than two goals, which again proved difficult to tip winners. Once again, no one managed the perfect score, but four people did score 8/9. We say great tipping this week to Della Chamberlain, David Kitto, Faye Kitto and Mike O’Rafferty for all scoring 8/9 – so close. A lot of people scored 7/9, missing both the WA teams’ results.

Fran Chamberlain remains our leader and currently holds a score of 119. Ten games further back on 109, we have Shirley Christie, Mike Concannon, and Steve Doig, followed by Greg Harper and Mike O’Rafferty, both on 108. Then, Gail Harper and Lena Wilkinson are on 106.

Next week we have a jackpot of $120.00 up for the taking, so we hope more people get amongst the money next week. Good luck, everyone.

CHRIS AND NOLA WILSON

Round 18

ROUND 18 provided us with some good games and some surprising results. With no perfect score this week, we had three people select 8/9, all of whom missed different games. We say well done and congratulate Mike Kessell, Colin Mathews and Mike O’Rafferty for their great tipping this week.

Fran Chamberlain remains our leader, with a score of 113, followed by Mike Concannon on 104, Shirley Christie and Steve Doig, both on 102, and Greg Harper on 101.

Next week, our jackpot is worth $80.00, so good luck to everyone and your footy team.

CHRIS AND NOLA WILSON

Round 17

Round 17, and we’re back tipping nine games, with a winner this week. Congratulations go to Fran Chamberlain for being the only person to pick all nine winners. For her effort, Fran collects our jackpot of $120.00. Well done, Fran. We had four people select 8/9: Steve Doig, Greg Harper, Michael Spadanuda, and Nola Wilson.

Fran Chamberlain remains our leader and is now on 108 – FANTASTIC Fran!!! Nine games behind Fran is Michael Concannon on 99, followed by Shirley Christie on 97, Steve Doig on 96, and on 95, we have Greg Harper, Steve Taylor, and Lena Wilkinson.

After Round 17 last year, we had the 9/9 selected 21 times. So far this year, it has been done just four times. Let’s try to understand what we all did with our tipping at the start of the year to try to solve the reasons for this.

At the end of the “Home and Away games”, the top two teams were Sydney and Port Adelaide. These two teams are currently 10th and 11th. Adelaide finished in 15th position and is now in 3rd place, and the Gold Coast finished 13th and are now in 7th place. Last year, Carlton came out of the blocks quickly at the end of the season and promised an exciting 2025 – they are currently in 12th position, having won just six games. The tipping looked so easy for this year, but what a difference. At least Brisbane is helping with our tipping after going Premiers last year, they are 2nd on the ladder.

Next week, the jackpot returns to $40.00, so let’s hope the tide turns a little and we start getting a few more people selecting 9/9. Good Luck, Everyone.

CHRIS AND NOLA WILSON

Round 16

ROUND 16 was the last of the “bye” rounds, and next week we return to nine games each week. We had no winner again this week, but eight people selected 6/7, with most of them missing the Western Bulldogs’ defeat of Sydney. These eight people are Shannon Clark, Mike Concannon, Helen Doig, Betty Hanley, Gail Harper, Greg Harper, Mike O’Rafferty and SKID. Good tipping to you all.

Fran Chamberlain is now on 99 as our leader and has had her lead trimmed by one game by Mike O’Rafferty, who is on 92. Shirley Christie is on 91, followed by Steve Taylor on 89 and then Steve Doig and Lena Wilkinson on 88.

Next week, our jackpot jumps to $120.00, and you have nine games to select all winners for this. We wish everyone good luck.

CHRIS AND NOLA WILSON

Round 15

OUR ROUND 16 was the second last of the bye rounds with only 7 games to select winners. This once more proved difficult with no one with the magic 7/7. We did have one person with 6/7 and this week we congratulate Nola Wilson for her great effort. 🙂 About 75 percent tipped all the home teams and thereby scored 4/7.

Fran Chamberlain has increased here lead and is now 8 games clear at the top of our ladder on the magnificent score of 94. Great solid tipping Fran. In second position we have Shirley Christie and Mike Concannon, both on 86, while on 84 are Steve Taylor and Lena Wilkinson, and one further back on 83 is Steve Doig.

With no winner this week, our jackpot for next week is $80-00 which is the last of the bye rounds before we revert to 9 games per round the following week so good luck to everyone in their tipping.

CHRIS AND NOLA WILSON

Round 14

ROUND 15 and only seven games to select winners, we FINALLY had a winner, in fact, we had two winners. This week, both Mike Concannon and Roger Hooper (our international tipster in London) selected all seven winners and therefore share our jackpot of $280.00, winning $140.00 each.  Well done, Mike and Roger!!!

Eight people selected 6/7, with most missing the GWS defeat of Brisbane. Those eight very close people are Shirley Christie, Shannon Clark, Gail Harper, Greg Harper, Andrew Mitchell, Danika Squiers, Lena Wilkinson and Pam Zscharnagk. Fran Chamberlain remains our ladder leader, with a score of 89, and is now only seven games clear of both Shirley Christie and Mike Concannon, who are tied on 82. Two games further back on 80 are Steve Doig, Steve Taylor and Lena Wilkinson.

We have now had $520.00 won from our weekly jackpot, and next week we revert to $40-00 and still only seven games to select, so good luck to all.

CHRIS AND NOLA WILSON

Round 13

ROUND 14 proved to be a very interesting tipping weekend with just 8 games to select. We very nearly had some winners with 8 people selecting 7/8 and most missing the game of Port Adelaide vs GWS. We congratulate Fran Chamberlain, Mike Concannon, Don Doig, Helen Doig, Tauel Harper, Andrew Mitchell, Mark Rule and Steve Taylor – just missing out on sharing $240-00 this week. This means that next week, with just 7 games to select, our jackpot reaches $280-00.

Picking 7/8 this week, Fran Chamberlain increases her lead, and is now 8 games clear on a score of 84. Fantastic tipping Fran!! In second position on 76 is Shirley Christie, with Mike Concannon, Steve Doig and Steve Taylor all on 75, followed by David Kitto and Lena Wilkinson on 74.

The next three weeks have us with just seven games each weekend, so here’s hoping we have quite a few people with the perfect 7/7 score and share the huge jackpot we currently have. Good Luck to everyone.
