Round 5

ROUND 5 (the Gather Round) gave us some great footy to watch and most impressed with the ground in the Barossa Valley. The SANFL have done it well.

More importantly, we had some great tipping with eight people scoring 8/9, missing different games for that elusive 9/9. We say well done to Della Chamberlain, Fran Chamberlain, Shirley Christie, Shannon Clark, Mike Concannon, Greg Harper, Roger Hooper and David Kitto.  Great tipping for a round where there was no “home-ground advantage” except for Adelaide and Port Adelaide.

Fran Chamberlain retains top spot on the ladder after scoring 8/9 and is now on 35. Well done Fran, you are beating the “Experts” in the West Australian. On 33 we have SKID, with Steve Doig and David Kitto just one further back on 32 and Mike O’Rafferty on 31.

Next week we have $240-00 up for the taking if you are good enough to get 9/9. Everyone has been SO close so far so will we have any winners next week? – just have to wait and see, but good luck.  Tipping details are attached.

Cheers

Round 4

ROUND 4 gave us some good tipping, especially with one game being decided by just one point. The “killer” game for tipping this weekend was St Kilda beating Port Adelaide in Adelaide, with only two people picking St Kilda. We must congratulate Stella Squiers and Pam Zscharnagk for doing this. We had 15 people miss this game and still score 7/8 which otherwise would have been a payout of $10-65 to those 15 people. Perhaps next week!

Fran Chamberlain remains our leader and is now on a score of 27, followed by SKID on 26 and Steve Doig and Mike O’Rafferty both on 25. This leaders group is followed by another six people on 24, so well done for some consistent tipping.

Next week, all the teams head off to Adelaide for the “Gather Round”. We have $200-00 in our Jackpot Pool for this round; you only have to select 9/9. This is a big task with many games being played on country ovals, so good luck one and all.

The results are attached.

Round 3

This round gave us a game that was scheduled for the “Opening Round” but was not played due to the cyclone in Brisbane. The result for this game between Brisbane and Geelong has been added to your “Opening Round” results, so if you picked Brisbane you have been given an extra point. There is still one missing game from this Opening Round, so when that is played the result will also be added to the Opening Round scores.

MEANWHILE…. With Round Three we had two games with blowout wins of over 50 points and four games with winning margins of 12 points or less.

This week we had just seven games to select winners but it still proved a difficult task. No one managed to select all seven but Fran Chamberlain and Mike Kessell both scored 6/7. Great tipping by you both.

Fran is now clear on the top of our leaders board with a score of 21. Good work Fran. Two games behind Fran on 19 are Mike O’Rafferty and SKID while just one game further back on 18 we have Steve Doig, David Kitto and Natasha Wilson. There has been some consistent good tipping by these six people.

With no winner, it means that our prize money for next week jackpots to $160-00 so keep the fingers crossed that you made the right selections for this round of just 8 games. The following round of 9 games is the “Gather Round” where all nine games are played in South Australia.

Good Luck everyone

Round 3

ROUND 3 Gave us some good games and games that were absolutely blowouts, and some VERY surprise results. With just eight games this weekend, the average score was 4/8, so if you scored more than 4, you did well.

All that aside, we had one person select 7/8, missing the other game by 3 points – she picked Fremantle. This week we congratulate Fran Chamberlain for her fantastic tipping of 7/8.

Fran is now scoring 14, sharing the top spot with SKID, also on 14. Well done to the two of you. Just one game behind, sitting on 13, are David Kitto, Mike O’Rafferty and Christian Prendergast.

With no winner this week, our jackpot jumps to $120-00 for next week, and with only eight games, keep your fingers crossed and good luck to everyone.

Round 2

ROUND 2 and we finally had 9 games to watch. Two games resulted in a winning margin of less than a goal but some of the other were a complete blowouts.

This didn’t seem to make any problems with picking winners as we had some very good results for the first week. No one selected 9/9, but we did have two people with 8/9. We say well done this week to Steve Doig and Michael O’Rafferty for their great tipping.

We have seven people at the top of our ladder at the moment all sitting on a score of 8. Here, we congratulate Steve Doig, Gail Harper, Mike O’Rafferty, Christian Prendergast, SKID, Steve Taylor and Natasha Wilson.

With no winner this week, our jackpot for Round 3 is now worth $80-00 so good luck to all.

Thanks

Opening Round

OPENING ROUND and what a mess with cyclone Alfred.

We have marked the two games that were played and when the remaining scheduled games get played (apparently at round 3 and round 24) we will go back to the “Opening Round” and add both game results as and when played.

In the meantime, don’t feel too bad if you scored 0/2 as 14 others did as well. Two people managed 2/2 so look out for Kevin Farrell and Christian Prendergast as they are really on the ball with their tipping.

Next week we have the full nine matches starting on Thursday night so good luck to everyone as the jackpot comes into play and for next week will start at $40-00.

Final Rounds

SECOND LAST ROUND gave us some excellent tipping, and four people managed to select the perfect 9/9. We congratulate ANZACS, Mark Rule, Michael Spadanuda, and Natasha Wilson, each of them winning $20-00 in each of the $80-00 jackpots. This means that for the last round, we have a jackpot of $40-00.

With Natasha Wilson getting the 9/9, this puts her on the top of our ladder with a score of 131, closely followed by Shirley Christie and Lena Wilkinson, who are both on 130, while just one game further back, we have Mark Chamberlain, Mike Concannon and Mick O’Rafferty.

FINAL ROUND This round seemed a little harder to select winners with most people scoring  5 or 6, But Shirley Christie managed the perfect score and collected our jackpot of $40-00.

SHIRLEY FINISHED ON TOP OF OUR LADDER, and being our winner takes home our winner’s prize of $300-00, finishing on the magnificent score of 139. Shirley actually also beat ALL the “expert” commentators in the West Australian who select week by week, allowing for weather conditions and injuries. Top job, Shirley.

On a score of 136, tied three behind Shirley, we had Lena Wilkinson and Natasha Wilson, who shared 2nd and 3rd prize money and won $175-00 each. Again, well done to our ladies. One game further back as equal 4th were Mike Concannon and Mike O’Rafferty.

With Shirley winning the final jackpot, there was nothing left to be divided between the person on the bottom of the ladder and the tennis club.

Thanks to everyone for being a part of our tipping competition and we hope that you (and any family or friends you would like to be it in) will join us again next year. The more people in it the more interesting it becomes. This year due to your participation we have paid out $1,610-00 in prize money and raised $490-00 for the tennis club. For those who have won money during the year, we will get your prize money to you so soon as possible.

Thanks to Steve Doig who gets the results every week onto the club website for us.

Again many thanks, keep well, and see you again next year.

CHRIS AND NOLA

Thanks to Chris & Nola for running such a wonderful competition for the club – Steve.

Round 23

OUR ROUND 23 RESULTS…

WELL, IF YOU THOUGHT THAT YOU DIDN’T DO WELL IN THIS WEEK’S TIPPING …… DON’T PANIC

That has been the hardest to select winners for more than 18 YEARS. The fact that 4 games were won by less than a goal, certainly didn’t help.

The best tipping this week was 5/9 and this was achieved by only 6 people – Shirley Christie, Mike Concannon, David Kitto, T & M O’Reilly, Lena Wilkinson, and Pam Zscharnagk – well done!

With just two weeks (18 games) to go here is a list of the CURRENT leaders. We have two ladies leading our tipping with both on 124 – Shirley Christie and Lena Wilkinson. On 123 is Mike O’Rafferety, then on 122 are Mark Chamberlain, T & M O’Reilly and Natasha Wilson closely followed on 121 by Mike Concannon and Don Doig

By the end of the tipping competition IF THE JACKPOT IS NOT WON, we could have $120-00 still sitting in the Jackpot Fund. If this happens, half of this will go to the Tennis Club and the other half going to person at the “other” end of our tipping ladder. At this stage we have two people who may finish here. On 89 we have Stella Squiers and on 95 is Margaret Whittington.

THERE WILL NOT BE ANY RESULTS SENT OUT NEXT WEEK. This is to keep everyone wondering how “everybody else” went, as you know your results if you kept a copy of your tipping. Has the jackpot gone off? If you picked 9/9 were you the only winner? How are you going against everyone else … etc

Good luck every for your tipping and your footy team for the last two rounds.

CHRIS & NOLA WILSON

Round 22

OUR ROUND 22 gave us some exciting finishes, with four games being decided by less than a goal and is making the final run towards September even more exciting.

You would have thought that with 4 games being that close it would have been difficult to select ALL the winners, but we finally had someone select the perfect score of 9/9. Here we say congrats to SKID, and for his tipping, he has won our jackpot of $280-00. Well done, Skid. We had another 4 people select 8/9 – Kevin Farrell, Betty Hanley, Kylie Squiers
and Lena Wilkinson – so close.

We now have a new leader on our leader’s board. On 120, we have Mike O’Rafferty. Mike has scored 7/9 every week for the last 6 weeks in a row – good tipping, Mike. Just one game back from Mike on 119 are Shirley Christie, Lena Wilkinson and Natasha Wilson, while on 118 are Mark Chamberlain and Don Doig with a further 3 people on 117.

Our jackpot returns to $40-00 for next week with just three weeks to go, anything can happen.

Good Luck Everyone

CHRIS & NOLA WILSON

Round 21

OUR ROUND 21 once again proving difficult to select winners with most people missing Pt Adelaide, Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn all having a win. No one selected the perfect 9 with our top score being 7/9 and only three people achieving that – David Kitto, Fay Kitto and Mike O’Rafferty.

We now have just one person at the top of the leaders board – Natasha Wilson on 114 – well done Natasha. One game behind Natasha on 113 are
Shirley Christie, Don Doig, Mike O’Rafferty and RAT. On 112 is Mark Chamberlain and on 111 we have Mike Concannon, T& M O’Reilly, Mark Rule
and Lena Wilkinson.

With no winner this week, our jackpot jumps to the huge amount of $280-00 so keep those fingers crossed that you made some good decisions
back in March.

Good Luck Everyone
